Internal visits

December 19, 2022

Dear families,

The situation with the Covid virus in our nursing home is stable therefore we will start open visitation again in our nursing home as of December 23, 2022. The doors will be open between 10AM to 18:30 PM every day of the week (including Saturday and Sunday) and you can come as you wish during these hours.

You are asked before entering to wash your hands and put on a medical mask which is at your disposal at the entrance.  Wearing a mask is still mandatory in the nursing home.

Since Covid is still very active in our community and that we have a mandate to protect the most vulnerable, we will have zero tolerance for rules not followed.  “Therefore, if we see a visitor who does not have his or her mask on or it is down (below the nose), there will be no warning and the visitor will be informed that they must leave the home immediately and will not be allowed to return for a period of 7 days.”

No changes for other rules:

• Please do not come to the home if you have one or more Covid symptoms, even if minor.

• Please try to limit to a maximum of 2 visitors per resident

• Food is permitted for the resident only and not for yourself, as your mask must remain in place at all times.

• No photos should be taken without a mask with the resident.

• No traffic in the nursing home, except to go to the resident's room or common rooms.

• You can go to the following rooms with your family member: the kitchenettes, the activity room and the chapel (social distancing of 6 feet required between you and other residents and their families).

• You should not go to other rooms or join other families to visit except in common rooms

• If you are sick, please stay home.

• If you do not follow the instructions, the nurse will ask you to leave and your visitation rights could be revoked permanently.

Happy Holidays to all our families!

It is important to note that we struggled at times whether to move dad to live closer to us, the deciding factor was always that dad was “home”, he was surrounded by his culture and familiar voices. It wasn’t until last week that we knew just how much this was to be true, it was far more than just culture and familiar voices, it was the gentle caress, caring words, soft kisses and warm embraces that he was able to experience in every moment.
